Places to Visit in Spiti Valley
Explore ancient monasteries, pristine lakes, and some of the highest villages in the world

Key Monastery (Ki Gompa)
The largest and most iconic monastery in Spiti Valley, Key Monastery is a stunning example of Tibetan Buddhist architecture. Founded in the 11th century, it houses around 300 monks and contains ancient scriptures, murals, and thangkas. The monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Spiti River valley.

Chandratal Lake
Known as the "Moon Lake" due to its crescent shape, Chandratal is one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in India. The crystal-clear waters reflect different colors throughout the day, from deep blue to emerald green. It's a popular camping destination with some of the clearest night skies for stargazing.

Tabo Monastery
Often called the "Ajanta of the Himalayas," Tabo Monastery was founded in 996 AD, making it one of the oldest continuously operating Buddhist monasteries in India and the Himalayas. The monastery complex houses exquisite murals, stucco sculptures, and thangkas that are over 1000 years old.

Dhankar Monastery
Perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers, Dhankar was the traditional capital of Spiti. The ancient monastery and fort complex is a UNESCO World Heritage site in need of preservation. A trek to Dhankar Lake offers stunning views.

Kibber Village
One of the highest inhabited villages in the world connected by a motorable road. Kibber is known for its traditional Spitian architecture and is the gateway to Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the elusive snow leopard, Himalayan blue sheep, and ibex.

Langza Village
Famous for its giant Buddha statue overlooking the village and the valley, Langza is also known as the "fossil village" where marine fossils dating back millions of years can be found. The village offers stunning views of Chau Chau Kang Nilda peak.

Chicham Bridge
Asia's highest suspension bridge spanning 150 meters over a deep gorge, connecting Kibber to Chicham village. The bridge replaced a dangerous rope trolley that locals used for decades. Crossing it offers an adrenaline-pumping experience with stunning views.
